Sometimes we are hoarders of our selves, of our love, of our purse, our empathy, our sympathy. We tend to take a lot, but when it comes to giving we simply cannot reciprocate as much. And even if we intend to, we’ll do it tomorrow. Not today, today we have our excuses and our reasons - tomorrow is a better day!
Â
This is not because we do not have the propensity to give, it is not because we do not see it - we take it for granted that tomorrow will come, the right moment - the right time and the right space. In tragedy we are reminded of how foolish that is.
Â
A family were sitting together discussing the forthcoming marriage of their young daughter which was to be the next day, on the 27th of December, and they were talking of the guests, the ceremony and all that when suddenly out of nowhere came a giant of a wave that the world calls a Tsunami and within no time what was left of that tiny hamlet was just swirling waters and a whole lot of dead bodies.
Â
We speak of tomorrow and another day and another time - as if we controlled that. We promise without even realizing that the morrow is not in our control. A relationship that is perfect today can sour tomorrow - tomorrow is a different day. We speak of postponing what we must do today what we can do today to a distant tomorrow.
Â
Let us not take that attitude. Ever. Let us do what we can do today and let us act with haste. Those that waited for the morrow have more often gone empty handed and disappointed.
Â
Heal that which is broken. Do what is long pending. Write that email that is long over due. Spend your precious time with spouses and children and loved ones that is never happening. This is a good season regardless of one’s faith or belief. The year is coming to an end; it’s a new beginning in a few days. A new season, a new cycle and a new year; it’s a good time to show family, friends, and colleagues and peers a side of ours that may have been obscured due to various reasons. Reveal to them our Magnanimity, our Completeness and Our True Self. Make this a season of renewal, if not celebration. Make this a season of forgiveness, of the revelation of your Inner Beauty, for tomorrow may never come.
Â
Don’t let that dreaded disease called procrastination catch us, Oh we Magnanimous Ones who simply cannot find the date in our calendars to give of ourselves.
